Adding Classism to the Agenda

Yeskel's article grasped my attention the most this week. In middle school, I started to recognize classism after being rejected by a different social class. I never noticed the difference before but somehow others did. Apparently, you can absorb a lot of information about someone based on their appearance and materialistic items and I was the girl who didn't have many. The same occurred in high school but at this moment in life I was content with my surroundings. Nothing was based on looks or money,I was able to be myself and that's all that matters. I've always lived a good life it just wasn't what others looked like. Visiting friends homes i saw the difference in wealth but it never made me want to be anything less than a friend.
It bugs me how people base their friends and other relationships off wealth and materials. On page 98, Yeskel says "classism, like no other forms of oppression, can be internalized causing self-blame,shame,low expectations, discouragement and self-doubt,particularly about one's intelligence." I would hate to put anyone through that sort of depression. No one should be treated differently because of their social class.
